Charity
Missionary Talk 2000-06-11 00:00:00This talk defines charity as the pure love of Christ, described in scripture as patient, kind, humble, and enduring. It explains that a charitable person demonstrates these Christlike qualities in action and attitude, as outlined in Moroni 7 and 1 Corinthians 13. To develop charity, we must study Christ’s life, pray earnestly for this gift, and learn to love ourselves, which in turn fosters greater love and patience toward others. Ultimately, possessing charity transforms us to be more like Christ and brings blessings to ourselves and those around us.
- Read the verses
- Start with: what is charity?
- Moroni 7:45-47 good!
And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him. - Bible dictionary: Charity
