Yea, for thus saith the Lord: Have I put thee away, or have I cast thee off forever? For thus saith the Lord: Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement? To whom have I put thee away, or to which of my creditors have I sold you? Yea, to whom have I sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
2 Nephi 7:1
I will admit this was a hard week. Isaiah is not exactly the easiest reading. There is a lot of very import teachings embedded in his writing but cracking the code is non-trivial.
I picked this verse as it makes very clear that Jesus does not leave us, we leave him! It is our choices that sell us bind us or enslave us when we choose to transgress God's commandments. I know it is a very primary answer, but it is so true. People tend to see God's commandments as a limiter ruining the possibility of fun and happiness. What they are really is a guide to avoiding the traps and snares that will bind us to dependency of cheap thrills and rob us of actual joy. Why have temporary happiness if I can have eternal joy.
